Christchurch rebuilding
We had the great opportunity to attend the IAP2 Australasia Conference for Public Participation and during this time met of few of people who are working to engage community members rebuild the city center of Christchurch, New Zealand. For those of who you aren’t familiar, Christchurch has seen a series of devastating earthquakes that has caused serious damage to city buildings, infrastructure and homes and yet through all of the hardship has experienced amazing levels of community resilience and commitment to the recovery project. We were inspired not only by what these people have lived through but also by the community engagement efforts that are being made to rebuild Christchurch physically, socially and emotionally. Check this out will give you a taste of what the engagement team is doing and hopefully will encourage you to consider what you read and how it might be applied to your own work.
